Rough Cut 1 With Feedback

Feedback:

  • From Marissa she told us that we needed to re shoot the beginning as the clips was cut off before it was able to reach the shot of the body
  • Also that we need an establishing shot at the beginning so the audience understands where the girl is

To also improve our rough cut we would need to complete the sound.

[No.40] Planning - Revisions To Pitch And Final Decisions In Light Of Feedback

From our pitch, we got the feedback off the rest of the class and our teacher. They said that our presentation has too much words and less pictures and for the good feedback they said that they liked our animation storyboard as it brought our idea to life. What I did next was create a still digital storyboard so that they can see it step by step.

Production: Re-shooting

Re-shooting

xss

To respond to the feedback we were given by Marissa on our first cut of our final opening. Me and Naeema decided to spend one of our lunchtimes to re-shoot certain shots.

First we reviewed our footage in our first cut to see if any other scenes need re-shooting and then we went out into the park to re-shoot.

We also decided to re do some of the bedroom scenes so Naeema borrowed equipment that was needed overnight to re-shoot also.

By doing this we have responded to the feedback we were given and have made to changes to ensure the overall quality of our final film opening.

Post-Production: First editing session - 11/02/15

Post-Production: First editing session

After completing our last filming session on Monday we were able to move onto to editing our film opening.

*Need to insert editing session pictures
*Need to insert first video draft

Feedback:
  • Over watching over our clips Marissa mentioned that we should re-do our unconcious scene that include a cut in of a bloody knife as she found the continuity of the clips weren't great.
Therefore on Thursday we are going to re-shot parts of that scene paying close attention to the clips we shoot so there is continuity

  • She also mentioned that there wasn't great continuity in the scene where Naeema wakes up in her room
To correct this we have gotten Naeema to borrow the equipment again overnight on Thursday to re-shot these scenes.

[ NO. 43 ] Production - Reflection

The First filming session
On the first filming session we thought we done well and got most of the shots we needed however we did not realise we needed more until we looked at the shots we had on the computer. Our first filming session never go well as we had a lot of footage where the camera was shaking and the angles where the same in most of the shots. This meant we had to go out and film everything from the beginning .

 The second filming session
As we made a production schedule after a first filming session everyone knew what to bring and what they was going to do at what time . It was a very detailed plan.. We stuck to the schedule as much as we could and at the end we realised we the schedule was too tight to do everything we thought we could. This meant some of the group had to do weekend filming .

 Third filming session
On our third filming session we got the hang of things and there wasn't really much for use to film so everything went smoothly . We got all the shots we needed and took more extra shots. However we did have a problem with the fake blood as it looked to fake and as a group we decided we didn't want it to look like that so we had to change our ideas about the filming of the whole body to filming just a hand with blood on it.

The costumes
Every filming session we checked if our costumes represent our characters . For example one of our characters are loud and out going and very popular so she wore the trendy clothes like hooped earring's trainers ripped jeans etc. but another character was kind of nerdy so she wore glasses button up shirts and dolly shoes. Over all i think our costumes represented our characters well

Location
We decided to film mostly in parks and urban areas and estates because it goes with the theme of our film and the places we went to represent the characters and their lifestyle.

Changes as we went along
We never really make o changes as we first came up with the idea . As a group we though out idea for our title sequence was very good and we stuck by it.

Production: Filming session 04/02/15

04/02/15 Filming session

Due to our detailed planning and schedule that we made in Monday's lesson we were able to get straight to filming as the lesson started as we knew exactly what we needed and what shots we were going to fim.

Everyone within our group knew exactly what they needed to do as everything was beforehand was planned pricesly  and we had strict timed schedule so we didn't waste on time and we get onto to doing exactly what we needed to do within that time frame this enabled us to succesfully get all shots as we needed.

*need inserts gifs

However, due to having such a productive day and running around to get our shots on schedule we found that we were very tiring so we took a break at the end which did not leave us enough time to film our final shot. we would of have been finish within that session, however, this means we now have to have one more final filming session

Production: Weekend filming session 07/02/14 - Esther Asaolu

Weekend filming session

As a group we decided for Naeema to borrow the camera equipment over the weekend so she could film independently at home for the bedroom scenes as she's the only one needed for these scenes.
To ensure we got the shots we needed me and Naeema communicated using Whatsapp to discuss the shots needed and in details how to shoot them e.g. from which directions, low angle, wide shot and so on.
Later on Saturday  we decided to meet up at London bridge so we could film some establishing shots for our urban film which included iconic buildings in central London such as the shard and tower bridge which we were able to film with the help of Naeema's sister . We then travelled down to south east London to a notorious estate named Aylesbury estate to get further establishing shots of urban London.

Whilst travelling we able to review together the shots that Naeema did independently and we were able discuss which shots were sufficient enough to keep and which shots had to be redid.
Overall, our weekend session was successful even though unlike Wednesday's filming session we didn't necessary plan all the shots we wanted to do as we did not have time limit like how we do when filming within a  lesson, this allowed us to get all the shots we need without being a rush to complete our filiming session.

Production: Meeting up to Film near London Bridge - 7/2/15

Filming Sessions

Esther, Nafeesa (my sister) and I met near London Bridge underground station at around 2PM, to film establishing shots of London and council estates. We also took random videos of me walking around the state, near a wall with graffitti, suggesting the ghetto. Helen and Renelle were unable to come because of personal issues.

Production: First filming sessions review - 28/01/15 - Esther Asaolu

First filming sessions review

On our first filming session we found that we were quite unorganised so we though we ended up completing the shots we wanted to film we found that after reviewing them in Mondays lesson that a lot of them were unusable.

For example, we found that some clips were shaky, blurred and so on.
*need to insert screenshots of clips

To improve we have spent this Monday's lesson planning in detail the type of shots we are going to use, what time we are going to film those shots, what we have to bring in and so on. We have also allocated to each person in the group what equipment that are going to hold so there is no time wasting or confusion and we can get to work right away.

Also, when  we first filmed on Wednesday we didn't really know how to use some of the equipment properly such as the fig rig so that lead us to have many technical difficulties that had us stop filming at some points and head back to our classroom or technicians for help which wasted quite a lot of our time. However, with the experience now of using the equipment it is likely we will experience less problems during our filming session.

Next time we will:

  • Use the tripod more than the Fig rig for more steady shots and smooth panning
  • Whilst filming ensure that the camera is focused at all times
  • be more organised

[ NO. 37 ] Planning - Branding our blog

Branding our blog

We made our blog pink and white because it goes with our group and the colours we choose are bright and attractive so it easy to the eyes of pass buyers
We also face twitter and a Facebook page to brand our blog and get the word out.
Also as we have done some Gifs and Animations and sound designs  on social website like Makeagif.com , Goanimate.com and UJam.com it allow us to also brand our blog on these websites

On the blog we changed the font and colour , layout and the size of everything to correspond to our film. we wanted it t be pink and pretty as it what most people see girls as.

We also chosen these colours because we decided to go against the conventions of colours in urban youth dramas as usually they feature dark colours this is mainly due to these dramas mainly featuring males as main characters. However, we went against this convention by making our film feature only females so to emphasise this we used the colour pink which is associated with females.

We had to do an presentation on what we want to do in our title sequence opening this included everything that went with. For example in ranged from costume to film institution that might distribute our film to location of where we would film. Our Pitch was done pn prezi as it is very interactive with the audience and it intesting.

[ NO. 34 ] Planning - Production schedual

This our detailed plan on what we want to do at specific times so we get every thing we need a more if something goes wrong. We did this because our first filming session was very long and we never get a lot of footage . This is an Production Scheduled for our second filming session which went a lot better and we was more focused as we stuck to the plan as best as we could.

Planning: Costumes

Costumes

Inspiration

  • For the characters Shaquida and her friend we want them to wear items such as hoodies, hoop earrings, trainers to present them as urban.
  • For the character Bella we want to he to wear a bright coloured top, jeans, and so on to createa contrast between her and the other characters in the friendship group such as Shaquida as we want her to seen as the nicer person in the group.
  • For the main character Christina she will have two different costumes:  1. Her pre-transformation - plain outfit with dull colours with no make up 2. Her post transformation: Her custome becomes similar to the character of Shaquida e.g Hoop earrings, Leather jacket, White tee, jeans, makeup.

We have been inspired by the costumes in other UK youth dramas.
