Production: First filming sessions review - 28/01/15 - Esther Asaolu

First filming sessions review

On our first filming session we found that we were quite unorganised so we though we ended up completing the shots we wanted to film we found that after reviewing them in Mondays lesson that a lot of them were unusable.

For example, we found that some clips were shaky, blurred and so on.

To improve we have spent this Monday's lesson planning in detail the type of shots we are going to use, what time we are going to film those shots, what we have to bring in and so on. We have also allocated to each person in the group what equipment that are going to hold so there is no time wasting or confusion and we can get to work right away.

Also, when  we first filmed on Wednesday we didn't really know how to use some of the equipment properly such as the fig rig so that lead us to have many technical difficulties that had us stop filming at some points and head back to our classroom or technicians for help which wasted quite a lot of our time. However, with the experience now of using the equipment it is likely we will experience less problems during our filming session.

Next time we will:

  • Use the tripod more than the Fig rig for more steady shots and smooth panning
  • Whilst filming ensure that the camera is focused at all times
  • be more organised
